Gauri Khan’s Torii Restaurant Features Exclusive ‘Secret Door’ for Shah Rukh Khan and Family
Mumbai’s upscale dining scene has a new star: Torii, co-owned by Gauri Khan. The restaurant, located in Bandra’s Pali Hill, opened on Valentine’s Day 2024. It’s a hotspot for Bollywood’s elite, blending Latin-Asian fusion cuisine with luxurious design. But one feature stands out—a ‘secret door’ reserved for Gauri’s husband, Shah Rukh Khan, and their children, Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam.
Torii’s head chef, Stefan Gadit, revealed the private entrance in an interview with SCREEN. “Not everyone has access to the secret doorway; it’s for the Khans,” he said. The discreet entry ensures privacy for the superstar family, shielding them from paparazzi and crowds. Select celebrities also use this exclusive passage.
The Khan family frequents Torii, dining in or ordering takeout. Shah Rukh favors the lamb chops, while AbRam loves sushi. Suhana often visits with friends, and Aryan drops by later in the evenings. The restaurant even hosted a private anniversary celebration for Shah Rukh’s manager, Pooja Dadlani.
Gauri’s design expertise shines in Torii’s opulent interiors. Gold accents, vibrant reds, and greens create a warm yet sophisticated vibe. The restaurant appeared in Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, with stars like Sussanne Khan and Maheep Kapoor attending its launch. Gauri remains hands-on, even adding her favorite Thai curry to the menu.
Torii faced scrutiny earlier this year over a viral ‘fake paneer’ claim. A YouTuber’s iodine test suggested adulteration, but Torii clarified the dish contained soy-based ingredients, causing the reaction. The controversy, ironically, boosted business, per Chef Gadit.
Shah Rukh, last seen in 2023’s Pathaan, Jawan, and Dunki, is filming King with Suhana, marking her theatrical debut. Torii, meanwhile, continues to draw Mumbai’s elite, offering a glamorous dining experience with a touch of Bollywood secrecy.
