At the recent Kuberaa pre-release event in Hyderabad, director Sekhar Kammula praised actor Dhanush, calling him the “pride of Indian cinema.” The National Award-winning filmmaker lauded Dhanush’s exceptional acting prowess, predicting another National Award for his role in the upcoming socio-political thriller. “No one else could have done this role,” Kammula stated, highlighting Dhanush’s unique ability to embody complex characters.

Kuberaa, directed by Kammula, stars Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Rashmika Mandanna. The film, set for a global release on June 20, 2025, in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam, has generated significant buzz. Its trailer, launched with SS Rajamouli as the chief guest, promises an intense narrative exploring power, greed, and social divides.

Dhanush, who plays a beggar named Deva, described the role as unlike anything he’s done before. He credited Kammula for guiding him through the character’s nuances, calling the director a “pure soul.” The actor emphasized the film’s importance, stating, “Kuberaa deserves to be promoted like this.”

The event, attended by the lead cast, showcased the film’s high production values, with a reported budget of ₹120–150 crore. Devi Sri Prasad’s music, including the viral single Pippi Pippi Dum Dum, has further amplified anticipation. Despite a canceled trailer launch in Ahmedabad due to a local tragedy, the team’s promotional efforts, including events in Mumbai and Chennai, have fueled excitement.

Trade experts predict Kuberaa could be a game-changer for Indian cinema, given its star-studded cast and Kammula’s reputation for impactful storytelling. Fans on social media echoed Kammula’s sentiments, celebrating Dhanush’s versatility and the film’s pan-Indian appeal.

With its release fast approaching, Kuberaa is poised to showcase Dhanush’s global cinematic influence, cementing his status as a towering figure in Indian cinema.
